Hollyhock (Alcea Rosea) - Chaters Salmon

Large spectacular paeony-like double blooms on tall impressive plants. The refined colour adds a touch of classic grandeur to the back of the herbaceous border. A hardy perennial.
Believed to originate in Turkey and thought to have been introduced to western Europe from Istanbul. It has grown in English gardens since the 16th century and was once used in medicine, to treat ‘wheezers’ and sore throats.
