The pendant racemes of small white flowers are surrounded by an ornamental bract. These are followed by pretty, inedible purple berries giving this ornamental shrub a long season of interest. A hardy deciduous shrub.
Known as the ‘Himalayan Honeysuckle’ from the mountain forest slopes of that region. It was Nathanial Wallich in the 19th Century, who named it after William Leycester the chief justice of Bengal.
